12 Months Position Summary The Director of Auxiliary Services provides strategic leadership, oversight, and management of the district's operational support services, including facilities, maintenance, transportation, construction and capital projects, school safety, emergency preparedness, and related operational functions. The Director ensures that all support services are efficient, safe, cost-effective, and aligned with the district's mission of providing high-quality educational environments that support student achievement and staff success. This position serves as a key member of the district leadership team and is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating operational systems that maintain safe, secure, functional, and attractive learning environments for students and staff. Essential Duties Facilities and Maintenance Direct and oversee all district facilities, grounds, custodial, and maintenance operations. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to maximize the lifespan of district facilities and equipment. Ensure all buildings, grounds, and systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Conduct regular inspections of district facilities to identify operational, maintenance, and safety needs. Develop long-range facility maintenance and improvement plans. Coordinate custodial standards and expectations to ensure clean, safe, and welcoming learning environments. Monitor work order systems and ensure timely completion of maintenance requests. Manage utility usage and implement energy conservation initiatives. Transportation Services Oversee all transportation operations Monitor transportation efficiency and implement improvements to maximize service delivery. Develop procedures to ensure student safety during transportation operations. Collaborate with school administrators to address transportation concerns and operational needs. Analyze transportation data and recommend route modifications and efficiencies. Construction and Capital Projects Provide leadership and oversight for all construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects. Coordinate project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and implementation. Serve as the district liaison with architects, engineers, contractors, and governmental agencies. Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, regulations, and safety requirements. Present project updates and recommendations to district leadership and the Board of Education. Assist in the development and implementation of long-term capital improvement plans. School Safety and Security Direct and oversee district-wide school safety and security initiatives. Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive school safety plans. Lead emergency preparedness planning, training, and response efforts. Collaborate with local law enforcement, emergency management agencies, fire departments, and other community partners.. Coordinate safety drills and emergency exercises throughout the district. Conduct safety audits and risk assessments of district facilities. Ensure compliance with state and federal school safety requirements. Budget and Financial Management Develop and manage departmental budgets for facilities, transportation, safety, and capital projects. Monitor expenditures and ensure fiscal responsibility. Prepare budget recommendations and long-range financial forecasts related to auxiliary services. Identify and pursue cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high service standards. Assist with grant opportunities related to facilities, transportation, and school safety. Manage procurement processes and contracts related to operational services. Leadership and Personnel Management Supervise, evaluate, and support department supervisors and operational staff. Establish performance expectations and accountability measures. Promote a culture of professionalism, customer service, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Coordinate professional development opportunities for auxiliary services personnel. Assist with recruitment, hiring, retention, and succession planning efforts. Foster positive working relationships with employees, administrators, families, and community stakeholders. Strategic Planning and Operations Develop operational goals aligned with district strategic priorities. Analyze operational data to inform decision-making and improve efficiency. Recommend policies, procedures, and operational improvements. Serve as a member of district leadership teams and committees. Prepare reports and presentations for district leadership and the Board of Education. Coordinate responses to operational emergencies and critical incidents. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent. Education/Experience Requirements Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities, transportation, construction, operations, school safety, or related areas. Demonstrated experience managing budgets, personnel, and complex operational systems. Valid driver's license. Experience overseeing capital construction projects Experience leading emergency management and school safety programs. Preferred experience in public education operations and auxiliary services management.
