Full Job Description Transportation Manager Summary:
The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient movement of goods and/or passengers, ensuring optimal route planning, fleet maintenance, and compliance with safety regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage all third-party transportation providers, including Full Truckload (FTL), Partial Truckload (PTL), Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), Small Parcel and specialized freight carriers. Coordinate and oversee freight movement to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of products to customers and company locations. Develop and maintain strong relationships with transportation providers, brokers, and logistics partners. Negotiate transportation rates, contracts, and service agreements to achieve cost savings and operational efficiencies. Monitor carrier performance, service levels, claims, and on-time delivery metrics, addressing issues proactively. Collaborate closely with internal departments including Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Warehousing, and Purchasing to support business objectives and customer commitments. Serve as the primary point of contact for transportation-related issues, providing exceptional support and communication to internal stakeholders. Analyze freight spending and transportation data to identify opportunities for cost reduction, service improvements, and process optimization. Ensure compliance with applicable transportation regulations, carrier requirements, and company policies. Manage transportation claims, freight discrepancies, and service recovery efforts when necessary. Develop and manage transportation budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators. Stay informed of industry trends, market conditions, carrier capacity, and transportation best practices. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Proven experience in transportation management or a similar role, preferably in the relevant industry. Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices. Excellent organizational skills. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency in transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Amusement/Vending Industry experience a plus, but not necessary.
