Lake Mountain School District is currently hiring for the position of Coordinator /Activities This position manages student transportation services for regular and special education students, assigns drivers to student activities and assigns substitute drivers to routes when needed, ensuring daily routes are filled. This includes supervising bus drivers and other assigned transportation personnel, scheduling routes, addressing concerns from students, parents, or employees, sharing information with others, and helping train new and current drivers. Essential Functions Coordinates and assigns drivers for regular routes, activity trips, field trips, and substitute coverage to ensure efficient transportation operations and staffing. Assists with recruiting, onboarding, training, mentoring, evaluating, and retaining transportation personnel. Maintains driver qualification files, training records, licensing and certification documentation, and compliance records in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements. Monitors and ensures compliance with CDL requirements, DOT physicals, First Aid/CPR certifications, drug and alcohol testing programs, and other required credentials. Collaborates with school administrators, coaches, teachers, and district staff to coordinate transportation services for student activities and special events. Evaluates routes, schedules, loading zones, road conditions, and operational procedures to promote safe and efficient transportation services. Responds to transportation concerns, accidents, incidents, emergencies, and customer service issues; conducts investigations, prepares reports, and recommends corrective actions as needed. Assists in supervising transportation personnel and provides recommendations regarding hiring, performance evaluations, training, discipline, and operational improvements. Prepares, maintains, and processes transportation records, reports, correspondence, training materials, payroll documentation, and other department-related communications. Provides transportation coverage, including driving responsibilities when necessary, and responds to after-hours or emergency transportation situations. Participates in professional development activities to maintain knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices. Recommends and implements transportation procedures, policies, and operational improvements to support department goals. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the Transportation Department.
Administers and conducts Third-Party CDL Testing in accordance with state and federal regulations to evaluate and certify school bus driver candidates. Responds to after-hours, weekend, and emergency transportation situations as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience coordinating with school administrators and staff to meet transportation needs Ability to navigate challenging situations calmly and professionally without damaging relationships Proven track record of building and motivating high-performing teams Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on innovative, practical solutions Experience managing budgets and resources effectively Bilingual / Second Language Proficiency Preferred Experience Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in student transportation operations, driver training, transportation coordination, or related field preferred. Experience conducting driver training, evaluations, or CDL testing preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Required Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class B or higher, with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. Utah Third-Party Tester Certification (or ability to obtain within a district-established timeframe). Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate. First Aid and CPR Certification. Criminal Background Clearance. Drug and Alcohol Testing Compliance.
