Driving Full Job Description Responsibilities:
Oversee contractor performance for roadway maintenance, construction, traffic control, and emergency response; ensure compliance with contracts and manuals. Accurately prepare and review documentation covering contract activities, worked performed, quantity and cost of work, progress, pay estimates, daily logs, compliance reports and safety evaluations, etc. Ensure the contractor meets work zone safety and other safety requirements during maintenance operations. Assist in storm cleanup, accident response, snow/ice removal, and other emergency operations. Professionally communicate with contractors, public and utility companies. Provide on-site guidance, participate in hands-on training, and assist supervisors with project data and reporting.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of roadway maintenance, construction, and inspection practices. 5+ years of experience in Roadway Monitoring for service transportation related contracts preferred. Knowledge of highway maintenance specs, work zone safety, traffic control standards, erosion, and sediment control. Experience ensuring compliance of contract specifications and daily report writing. Knowledge of state and agency policies as they relate to quality workmanship and materials in maintenance contracts. Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze field data. Effective written and verbal communication. VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights with adequate vision to perform tasks Ability to work outside in various weather conditions Valid Driver's license with good driving record and ability to drive
