Position Overview Independent Power is looking for an experienced Solar Commercial Crew Lead to provide on-site field supervision for commercial projects and the ability to flex to residential projects as needed. The Solar Commercial Crew Lead oversees a team of apprentices and solar installers who assemble, install, and maintain solar, battery, and related electrical systems. We are looking for leadership, teachability, and a strong work ethic. Duties & Responsibilities1. Pre-Construction & Site Readiness Conduct pre-construction site walks with the Commercial Project Superintendent, Project Manager, Electrical Lead. . The Solar Commercial Crew Lead willverify all Tools, Information, and Materials against the Bill of Materials (BOM) before the 1st day of construction. Establish material landing zones and protect high-traffic areas using roof protection to maintain roof integrity. Confirm array layouts and safety zone setups with the Commercial Project Superintendent and Design team. 2. Health, Safety & Daily Briefings Requirements to conduct and attend tool box talks in a mandatory daily briefing covering hazards, task assignments, and site-specific safety protocols.

DORA/OSHA
ratios of certified electricians to non-certified installers. Enforce PPE use and monitor crew hydration to prevent heat-related illness. Own overall job-site safety, quality, and efficiency. 3. Field Supervision & Problem Solving Manage the installation crew to keep tasks on schedule and running efficiently. Supervise troubleshooting and fixing of issues in the field. Distinguish minor adjustments from major changes (layout/panel/battery additions) that must be referred back to the Operations team. Coordinate with the design team or electrical lead to resolve in-field discrepancies on plan sets or materials. Apply critical-path thinking — identify the next logical task (e.g., prepping modules while racking is finalized) to keep the crew on task. Overall job accountability to ensure the project is meeting the standards set. 4. Communication & Reporting Communicate job progress, changes, and scheduling to the Commercial Project Superintendent.
Daily Check-In:
give the Managing Crew Lead an end-of-shift update summarizing progress and next-day needs. Daily Progress Reports (DPR): submit reports on completed goals and roadblocks and upload daily progress photos 5. Inventory, Equipment & Vehicle Manage truck tools and jobsite material inventory. Oversee clean-up of the job site, ensure everything on the roof is secured safely for overnight storage. 6. Post-Installation & Quality Control Ensure the site is clean and documentation (string maps, binders) is ready for final electrical and building inspections. Support commissioning — functional testing and verification of monitoring system communication per standard procedure. Requirements & QualificationsMinimum Requirements Experience in electrical, construction, or solar trades. Leadership qualities and a problem-solving nature. Able to lift 50 lbs and maneuver a large ladder and other equipment as needed. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Able to travel between job sites. 3+ years of solar experience. 1+ years experience in commercial applications 1+ years experience of commercial solar racking. Preferred Requirements Residential Wireman's License (RW) or Journeyman Electrician License (JW) OSHA 10 Certification. Strong understanding of NEC codes, especially PV-related. Installation experience with modern PV systems, or related training. Excellent customer service skills.
Compensation & Benefits Pay:
$33.00-$38.00 per hour, depending on experience (2+ years and demonstrated leadership).
