Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Crew Leader to join our landscaping business. As a Crew Leader, you will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of landscaping professionals to ensure efficient and high-quality execution of landscaping projects. Your strong leadership skills, industry knowledge, and attention to detail will contribute to the success of our landscaping operations.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Supervision:
Lead a crew of landscaping professionals, providing guidance and direction. Assign tasks to crew members and ensure the efficient allocation of resources. Train new crew members on proper landscaping techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols. Monitor the work progress of the crew, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards. Motivate and inspire team members to maintain high productivity and workmanship. Provide feedback and coaching to improve individual and team performance.
Project Execution:
Oversee the execution of landscaping projects, including installation, maintenance, and enhancement. Ensure compliance with project specifications, design plans, and client requirements. Coordinate with the Project Manager to allocate resources and schedule tasks. Supervise the proper operation and maintenance of landscaping equipment and tools. Monitor the quality of work performed by the crew, addressing any issues or deficiencies promptly. Implement best practices and industry standards to achieve high-quality results.
Safety and Compliance:
Promote a culture of safety among the crew members, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines. Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to communicate safety procedures and address concerns. Ensure crew members use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe work practices. Identify and mitigate potential hazards on job sites, taking appropriate actions to maintain a safe work environment. Comply with relevant regulations and industry standards for landscaping operations.
Client Communication:
Communicate with clients in a professional and courteous manner. Address client inquiries, concerns, and requests promptly and effectively. Provide recommendations and expert advice on landscaping options and solutions. Represent the company's values and commitment to customer satisfaction.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily activity logs, timesheets, and material usage. Prepare reports on project progress, crew performance, and resource requirements. Document any incidents, accidents, or near misses, and ensure timely reporting to the appropriate channels. Assist in the preparation of project estimates and proposals as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required); relevant certifications or college degree (preferred). Proven experience (3+ years) in landscaping or related field, with experience in a leadership/supervisory role. Strong knowledge of landscaping techniques, plant care, and horticultural practices. Proficiency in operating landscaping equipment and tools. Familiarity with landscape design plans and specifications. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Understanding of safety protocols and ability to enforce them. Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
