Job Description
JOB TITLE
Transportation SupervisorDEPARTMENT
TransportationACCOUNTABILITIES
Assist with the daily leadership and operation of the Grand Rapids Transportation Department, supporting approximately 70 delivery and shuttle drivers throughout the Midwest. This position reports to the Transportation Manager.Responsibilities include:
- Supervise, coach, and support drivers while maintaining strong working relationships and accountability for performance, attendance, safety, and policy compliance. Assist with daily staffing, scheduling, routing, call-offs, breakdowns, weather issues, and other transportation needs.
- Ride with drivers at least monthly and travel to company hubs as needed , including Wisconsin, Illinois, Gaylord, Cadillac, Detroit, Ohio, and other locations. Overnight and short-notice travel may be required.
- Assist with management of 50+ tractors, trucks, trailers, and related equipment , including maintenance, repairs, assignments, condition, and replacement planning.
- Monitor fleet expenses including fuel, repairs, maintenance, tires, rentals, and related transportation costs.
- Assist with accidents, safety issues, driver incidents, documentation, and corrective actions.
- Support warehouse/distribution operations as needed and participate in twice-yearly physical inventories.
