Job Description

Responsible for the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) and Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) Program. 1. Coordinate the SHIP and SMP Programs in accordance with the Agency's contract with the Nebraska Department of Insurance. 2. Recruit, train, and maintain SHIP and SMP volunteers 3. Disseminate information about the SHIP and SMP Program in the service area 4. Receive and investigate reports of possible Medicare/Medicaid Waste, error and fraud, provide information, make referrals and take appropriate action. 5. Counsel Medicare beneficiaries through one-on-one counseling or public outreach. Provide Medicare Part D enrollment, assistance, education, presentations throughout the year, and enrollment events in all counties during the Medicare Part D Open Enrollment period. 6. Enter information into SHIP and the SMP databases as required 7. Presentations, as requested, regarding SHIP and SMP program information. This can include, but not limited to, "Welcome to Medicare." 8. Attend SHIP and SMP meetings and trainings as arranged by the Department of Insurance. 9. Maintain records as required 10.
