Position:
Mechanic –8 hrs. per day at Champion Schools (260 day contract)
Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of and experience as a mechanic. Proficiency in the repair and maintenance of buses, trucks, and maintenance equipment. Basic knowledge of body repair, welding, and fabrication. Ability to maintain high standards of safety and good housekeeping. Ability to respond to transportation-related emergencies. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications in relevant areas (e.g., brakes, diesel engines, electrical/electronic systems, compressed natural gas, and school bus conversion equipment) preferred. Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to school bus operation, vehicle emissions, inspections, and driver qualifications under all
OAC 3301-83
codes. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and EPA standards. Must hold a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or higher, with School Bus (S), Passenger (P), and Air Brake endorsements, or be willing to obtain the appropriate CDL classifications within six months. Must hold or be able to obtain Ohio School Bus Operator Certification through pre-service training and in-service requirements under
OAC 3301-83.10.
Must hold current, successful BCI and FBI background checks. Must successfully pass a drug screen. Must be willing to carry out the duties outlined in the job description. Other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director or Superintendent.
