Provides management of engineering projects, quality assurance, preventative maintenance, overhaul programs, resident inspections, projects and programs for passenger transit vehicles. Assists in ensuring that passenger vehicles maintenance's overall mission and goals are achieved by participating in the formulation and approval of all technical and quality assurance, programs, policies, and procedures as related to department oversight and responsibility. Ensures vehicle maintenance complies with Maintenance and Operations SOP's, government regulations and quality assurance guidelines. Manages all aspects of the department, including, but not limited to personnel management and development and administration of the department's budget. Leads, provides guidance, and develops fleet engineering staff for future UTA needs. Oversees performance evaluation of vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers. Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION/TRAINING
Bachelor's degree in a Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or Scientific field or as an equivalent at least eight years of equivalent field experience with transit revenue vehicles. Technical training in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, air controls, electronics, transit systems and equipment preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Eight years' experience in the transportation industry in progressively responsible positions, including two years of management experience in an engineering/procurement/quality assurance/regulatory/auditing environment.
Knowledge:
Management processes i.e., planning, budgeting, engineering, procurement, developing and implementing project deliverables. Federal, state and local regulations as they apply to technical operations of passenger vehicles in a regulated environment. Demonstrated proficiency in operating and troubleshooting computer systems on transit vehicles (e.g., Light Rail Vehicles, Commuter Rail Vehicles, Passenger Transit Buses, Siemens Sibas 16 and 32, Wabtec QES 3, Allison, Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Luminator, Webasto, Wabco, etc). Knowledge of FRA, FTA, EPA, County Emissions, Utah State Safety Inspection, and UDOT regulations
