Job Description
The Lead Shipping Coordinator will be responsible for entering alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source documents to a web-based database. Compare data entered with source documents, corrects entered data if necessary. May compile, sort, and verify accuracy of data to be entered. Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and managing outbound/inbound shipments and supporting operations in a lead material handler capacity as needed. This role involves managing material movement to and from the production line, training team members, and maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards. The ideal candidate takes pride in their hands-on work, excels in problem-solving, and demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills. This role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, and to adjust as needed to support production demands. Enter data into web-based systems in compliance with policies, ensuring timely and accurate processing of data and paperwork Identify discrepancies in data verbally and in writing, and perform filing, copying, and other clerical duties as needed Utilize TMS, MFS, and Warp to verify, create, and reject shipments, while maintaining clean workspaces and managing inbound/outbound shipments Communicate effectively with operations teams and third-party drivers, and ensure all shipments meet DOT compliance standards Support material handling, attend trainings, and assist with auditing activities for trailers, inventory, and yard operations Monitor material needs, track production progress, and adjust manpower to meet delivery targets while safely operating equipment Investigate quality and safety incidents, document findings, and collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives for safety, quality, and productivity Strong attention to detail, excellent data entry skills including touch typing and 10-key, and ability to manage high-volume, sensitive tasks with accuracy Strong organizational skills, effective written/verbal communication, and a team-oriented attitude with a history of meeting goals Prior experience with WMS/TMS systems and willingness to learn new tools to support operational efficiency Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment while handling routine and complex work demands Commitment to safety standards, 5S protocols, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement Experience operating heavy equipment (forklifts, tuggers, pallet jacks, flatbed carts), with forklift certification preferred Ensures compliance with policies, maintains a safe and organized work environment, and prioritizes accuracy in all tasks Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program
