SHIPPING SUPERVISOR
Purpose:
Help drive and achieve shipping goals by continually improving warehouse shipping procedures, logistical and organizational procedures and inventory controls.
Ideal Candidate:
Oversees the entire outbound shipping and logistics process, ensuring the safe, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of parcels in a made-to-order warehouse manufacturing and distribution environment. Coordinates with carriers, and supervises Shipping Dept. staff to optimize supply chain operations and meet customer goals.
THIS IS A SALARY EXEMPT POSITION

Monday
  • Friday 7:00am
  • 5:00pm + Every Other Saturday 8:00am
  • 1:30pm
Core Competencies:
Team Leadership:
Supervise, train and evaluate Shipping Dept. staff and drivers; manage dept. work schedules and oversee performance.
Logistics & Freight:
Help coordinate shipment schedules and resolve any delivery delays and discrepancies.
Documentation & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with company safety standards (OSHA, DOT) and help accurately prepare and verify shipping documents like Bills of Lading (BOL).
Process Optimization:
Be able to track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to reduce freight costs, minimize product loss, and increase overall efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Must work closely with Purchasing, Production, Sales and Customer Service to align priorities and meet production deadlines.
Adaptability:
Adapts to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
Dependability:

Requirements:
  • 5+ years progressive experience in warehouse Shipping, Scheduling, Inventory Control, Stocking Procedures, Supply Chain Management, and Logistics
  • 5+ years of Supervisory experience in a warehouse manufacturing environment
  • Must be computer savvy, with knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) operating systems ( SAGE 100 preferred, but not required), and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with FedEx Manager, UPS WorldShip and USPS shipments and software
  • Able to operate a Stand-Up Order Picker, Reach Truck and Sit-Down Lift
  • Ability to manage and direct personnel with responsibilities in Shipping, Material Handling, Pulling, Packing, Inventory Control and customer deliveries
  • Effectively prioritizes assignments and makes quick, rational decisions
  • Successfully run day shift and weekend shift with safety and efficiency as priorities
  • Driven and self-motivated, with sound reasoning, judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, leadership, and customer service skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and courteously in all instances.

PLUS Responsibilities:
  • All company safety and general procedures are observed through effective supervision of all Shipping Dept. personnel.
  • All shipments are adequately packed, weighed, labeled, loaded and shipped.
  • Customer orders are promptly processed, invoiced and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring of stock inventory levels to meet customer needs.
  • Proper and proactive maintenance of the Shipping Dept. is observed, including warehouse equipment and industrial vehicles.
  • Continuous evaluation of the internal movement and handling of orders and shipments to customers, to ensure product is being transported and handled in the most efficient way.
  • Help promote employee awareness and compliance with company policies and procedures regarding conduct, attendance, timekeeping, safety, driving, general warehouse standards and industrial truck maintenance.
  • Regular product, procedure, and safety meetings are held with Shipping personnel.
  • Reports potentially unsafe conditions, non-compliance or infractions.
  • Helps optimize employee productivity.
  • Ensures department personnel maintain professional behavior, proper language, and a positive attitude towards customers, suppliers, and fellow employees.
