Job Description
Position Summary The Warehouse Lead Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations and leading the warehouse team to ensure accurate receiving, proper put-away, clean organization, and fast/accurate order pulling. This role is hands-on and works side-by-side with the team while enforcing warehouse standards for inventory control, safety, productivity, and cleanliness. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision Lead daily warehouse activities: receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, staging, loading, and returns. Assign tasks and set priorities based on shipments, order volume, and deadlines. Train and coach warehouse staff on SOPs, scanning/labeling, pallet builds, and quality standards. Monitor performance and hold team accountable for accuracy, speed, safety, and housekeeping. Communicate issues (shorts, damages, inventory variances, delays) to management promptly. Receiving & Put-Away Receive inbound loads: verify PO/packing list, count cases, inspect for damage, check lot/expiry when applicable. Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and system entry (WMS/ERP). Direct put-away to correct locations using
FIFO/FEFO
rules where applicable. Resolve receiving discrepancies (over/short/damaged), document, and coordinate with purchasing/office. Order Pulling, Staging & Shipping Oversee and perform order picking/pulling with high accuracy. Ensure picked orders match pick list (item, UPC, lot/expiry if required, quantity, and condition). Build stable pallets (proper stacking, wrap, corner boards if needed) to reduce damage. Stage orders by route/customer and ensure they are ready on time for pickup/delivery. Coordinate loading and verify shipped quantities and paperwork. Inventory Control & Organization Maintain clean, labeled, and organized warehouse locations; enforce "everything has a home." Manage replenishment from reserve to pick faces to prevent shorts and picking delays. Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventory; investigate variances and correct root causes. Ensure returns are processed correctly and put back into inventory promptly when approved. Safety, Compliance & Equipment Enforce safety rules, PPE, forklift/pallet jack standards, and proper lifting procedures. Ensure aisles/exits are clear; keep warehouse clean and compliant with food safety expectations. Report equipment issues, coordinate basic maintenance checks, and prevent unsafe operation. Requirements 2+ years warehouse experience, including receiving and order picking (lead experience preferred). Strong understanding of warehouse organization, pallet building, and shipping/receiving paperwork. Experience with scanning systems/WMS/ERP (Odoo/WMS experience a plus). Ability to lead a team, enforce standards, and communicate clearly. Forklift experience/certification preferred (or willing to be certified). Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in freezer/cooler/ambient areas if applicable. Skills & Traits Detail-oriented (counts, lots/expiry, accuracy). Strong sense of urgency and follow-through. Organized and process-driven (SOP mindset). Calm under pressure; firm but respectful leadership style. Comfortable being hands-on while supervising. Schedule & Environment Full-time; may require early starts, overtime during heavy receiving periods, and occasional weekends.
