OF POSITION
Under the direction of the Risk Manager, implement various District programs such as property, fire and liability insurance, Workers' Compensation, transitional work program, vandalism, risk management, hazard awareness, disaster preparedness, employee injury prevention program, and other safety and insurance programs/activities, by performing the following duties.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Oversee and monitor the District Workers' Compensation program. E1 Review claims and investigate as required. E Prepare necessary documentation and work closely with insurance carrier. E Monitor claim form, disability payments, disability periods, and return to work dates. E Implement the return to work program. E Explain workers' compensation rights and job‐injury leaves to employees and supervisors. E Communicate with treating physician, as necessary, to clarify proper work status of job injury. E Give authorization to payroll for loss time, and monitor irregularities. E Confer with administering company regularly for audit and case review. E Complete annual reports, OSHA record keeping requests and Log of Bureau and Summary of Occupational reports. E Perform related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Six (6) semester units of coursework in insurance, safety, and/or risk management. One (1) year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE of:
Modern office practices. California school district functions. State of California regulations pertaining to Workers' Compensation, CAL OSHA rules, and appropriate safety precautions and procedures. 1 Essential duties as required by the American Disabilities Act WorkersCompensationSpecialist
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Type accurately using a word processor at a rate of not less than 40 words per minute. Read, understand, interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, rules, labor agreements, and contracts. Give out information over the telephone. • Work cooperatively with others. • Work under pressure. Maintain simultaneous control over a wide variety of tasks.
ENVIRONMENT
Office environment. The noise level is usually low to moderate.
