Position Purpose The Warehouse Coordinator supports the daily operations of the warehouse, assisting with accurate inventory management and a well-organized, safe environment. This position assists with inbound and outbound shipments, order picking, maintaining stock integrity, and supporting accurate inventory control. Additionally, the Warehouse Coordinator provides secondary support to volunteer and repack operations, helping with coverage as needed to maintain operational continuity. Primary Responsibilities The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Inventory Management and Control Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts, and end-of-month inventory reconciliation to maintain accurate stock records. Monitor stock levels, track product locations, and assist with bin consolidation and audits to optimize warehouse space. Assist the Warehouse Receiver by verifying that shipments match purchase orders, invoices, and bills of landing, scheduling inbound appointments, and coordinating with departments to streamline receiving activities. Warehouse Operations Assist with organization of the warehouse, including cooler and freezer areas, by consolidating pallets and organizing products following First In, First Out (FIFO) and First Expired, First Out (FEFO) principles. Assist with loading and unloading delivery trucks, verifying product quantities and quality match shipping and receiving documents. Assist with walk-in and scheduled truck donations. Prepare, stack, and move pallets for outbound shipments, coordinating with delivery schedules and ensuring accurate product counts. Assist with warehouse cleanliness and security, including waste disposal and upkeep of storage areas. Check product expiration dates, handle rotation, and ensure adherence to food safety guidelines. Assist with preparing shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of landing and receipts, to ensure compliance with tracking standards. Safety, Equipment Maintenance, & Documentation Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment, conducting routine checks and ensuring all equipment is safe working condition. Follow all warehouse safety protocols and maintain knowledge of food safety standards relevant to the handling, storage, and repackaging of food products. Assist with accurately recording incoming and outgoing inventory. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for this role will possess comprehensive knowledge of warehouse operations, food safety standards, and inventory control practices. The candidate should be capable of operating standard warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, with certification preferred. Strong organizational and time-management skills, effective communication, and teamwork abilities are essential. The candidate must also demonstrate a proactive approach to supporting operational areas, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and food handling requirements. Education, Training and Experience A typical way of obtaining the necessary education, training, and experience for this position includes: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse or inventory management role. Experience in volunteer coordination or repackaging operations is a plus.
Preferred:
Experience in a nonprofit or human services setting. Experience in a food warehousing setting. Experience working with inventory management software and systems.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Knowledge of:
Warehouse operations, inventory control practices, and safety guidelines for a warehouse setting. Food safety and handling standards. Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word) Inventory tracking system or warehouse management software (e.g., Primarius) a plus.
Ability to:
Operate standard warehouse equipment, including forklifts (certification preferred) and pallet jacks. Utilize strong organizational and time-management skills, multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with a proactive approach to supporting other operational areas as needed. Licenses, Certificates, Special Requirements Valid California Driver's License. Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification upon hire). Compensation This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly, benefited position. A market-level competitive salary is between $22.00- $25.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications. The compensation package includes a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package including: 403(b) plan with 200% employer matching; excellent health care coverage with free employee medical, dental and vision plans; company paid term life insurance; and a generous accrual of paid vacation and sick leave.
