Position Summary The Warehouse Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all warehouse operations, inventory management, shipping, receiving, and distribution activities while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards. This role will play a critical leadership position in designing, building, and implementing warehouse processes and systems from the ground up, including the implementation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, barcoding technologies, QR code systems, and inventory control processes. The successful candidate will help transform a newly established warehouse into a highly organized, efficient, scalable operation that supports the Company's continued growth in chemical manufacturing and distribution. This is a hands-on, working supervisor position. The Warehouse Operations Supervisor is expected to actively participate in daily warehouse operations while providing leadership and direction to the warehouse team. During warehouse startup, system implementation, staffing transitions, peak workloads, or operational demands, the incumbent will be expected to perform receiving, shipping, inventory control, material handling, cycle counting, system transactions, and other warehouse duties alongside team members. The successful candidate must be comfortable balancing strategic projects, leadership responsibilities, and day-to-day operational execution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Warehouse Operations & Leadership Supervise daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping, and logistics. Serve as a working supervisor by actively participating in daily warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, cycle counting, inventory transactions, and material movement. Lead by example and maintain a visible presence on the warehouse floor to ensure operational efficiency, safety compliance, and employee engagement. Assist with loading and unloading materials, operating warehouse equipment, and performing inventory-related tasks as needed. Provide direct operational support during staffing shortages, peak demand periods, system implementations, inventory counts, and special projects. Maintain a balance between supervisory responsibilities and hands-on operational execution to ensure business objectives are met. Lead, coach, develop, and manage warehouse personnel to ensure productivity, accountability, and operational excellence. Develop and implement warehouse procedures, work instructions, and best practices. Promote a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and teamwork. Warehouse Design, Startup & Systems Implementation Lead the physical setup and organization of the warehouse, including racking design, warehouse layout, location structure, storage optimization, and material flow. Develop warehouse slotting strategies to maximize space utilization, efficiency, inventory accuracy, and safety. Lead the implementation and optimization of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP platforms, barcode scanning systems, and QR code technologies. Design warehouse workflows and inventory processes that maximize accuracy, efficiency, traceability, and scalability. Develop inventory tracking methodologies utilizing barcoding and scanning technologies. Partner with Operations, Customer Operations, and Engineering resources to ensure successful system implementation and integration. Parter with EHS to create and maintain SOPs, process documentation, workflow diagrams, and training materials. Train warehouse personnel on new systems, technologies, and operational procedures. Monitor system performance and recommend continuous improvements. Project Management Partner with Engineering to assist leading the warehouse startup, expansion, reorganization, and optimization projects from concept through execution. Assist in developing project plans, timelines, milestones, and implementation schedules. Coordinate vendors, contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders as required. Evaluate warehouse layout, storage strategies, equipment requirements, and workflow efficiencies. Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements. Provide regular project status updates to leadership. Inventory Control & Logistics Maintain accurate inventory records and achieve inventory accuracy targets. Oversee cycle counting, physical inventories, reconciliation activities, and root cause analysis of discrepancies. Ensure inventory transactions are accurately recorded within ERP and WMS systems. Monitor warehouse KPIs including inventory accuracy, shipping performance, receiving performance, productivity, and order fulfillment metrics. Coordinate transportation and logistics activities to ensure timely shipment of products. Regulatory Compliance, Safety & Quality Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Maintain compliance with chemical handling, storage, labeling, and transportation requirements. Ensure adherence to IOTA, IMDG, EPA, DOT, Hazard Communication (HazCom), and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Oversee proper storage, segregation, and handling of hazardous materials. Ensure Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are maintained and readily accessible. Participate in safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action programs. Ensure warehouse personnel are trained on chemical handling procedures, PPE requirements, emergency response procedures, and safety protocols. Support customer, regulatory, safety, and quality audits as required. Qualifications Education Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience Minimum 5 years of warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience. Minimum 3 years of supervisory or lead experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, chemical, industrial, or distribution environment. Experience implementing or supporting WMS and ERP systems. Experience with warehouse startup, warehouse layout design, racking implementation, inventory control systems, and barcoding technologies strongly preferred. Experience working with chemicals, chemical storage requirements, and regulatory compliance preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, shipping, receiving, and logistics. Working knowledge of ERP systems and Warehouse Management Systems. Knowledge of barcode scanning, QR code systems, inventory control methodologies, and warehouse optimization practices. Strong leadership, coaching, project management, and organizational skills. Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, HazCom, and chemical handling requirements. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Physical Requirements Ability to regularly lift, move, and transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and perform physical warehouse activities throughout the workday. Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment or obtain certification upon hire. $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
