Job Description

Shipping Lead Pay Rate:
$26/hr
Shift:
1st shift with Oversight Responsibilities for possible
Second Shift Job Summary:
The Shipping Lead is responsible for overseeing daily shipping and loadout operations to ensure materials are safely prepared, accurately documented, and delivered on schedule. This role works closely with production, logistics, and management teams to maintain quality, efficiency, and safety standards while leading and supporting shipping personnel.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel, shipping, material handling, or related operations At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience Experience operating overhead cranes, telehandlers, vertical masts, and forklifts Familiarity with shipping or production management software such as Tekla EPMgo is preferred Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards Safety-focused mindset with the ability to enforce workplace safety procedures Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily shipping and loadout operations to meet delivery schedules and production goals Assist with interviewing, onboarding, and training new employees Ensure materials are safely loaded, secured, and accurately prepared for shipment Verify load documentation, tickets, and shipment records for accuracy Coordinate with logistics, production, and management teams to prepare and schedule shipments Monitor workflow and staffing needs to meet deadlines, including overtime or weekend work when necessary Identify opportunities for operational and process improvements Enforce company safety policies and conduct daily safety meetings or standups Support employee accountability, coaching, and disciplinary processes when needed Provide consistent leadership and promote a positive, team-oriented work environment Maintain quality, productivity, and efficiency standards within the department Perform additional duties as assigned
