Community Food Distribution Coordinator Organization Established in 1991, Farm Share is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to the recovery, sorting, packing and distribution of nutritious fruits, vegetables and other foods for people in need. Farm Share administers a combination of USDA commodity programs and produce recovery operations from a packinghouse located in Homestead, Florida - the heart of Miami-Dade County's farming area. For more information, please visit www.farmshare.org Position - General Description/Responsibilities Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Community Food Distribution Coordinator position is responsible for developing partnerships with agencies, churches, city and county governments, elected officials and law enforcement agencies that are willing to hold Community Food Distributions in conjunction with Farm Share. Once these relationships are developed, the Community Food Distribution Coordinator will be responsible for organizing and managing all aspects related to the community food distributions both prior to the distributions and during the distributions. This includes scouting the location, verifying the required number of volunteers, ensuring information about the event is properly disseminated through flyers, social media or other means, coordinating the availability of food with Facility manager and TEFAP Admin, maintaining proper paperwork related to the event and otherwise ensuring the Community Food Distribution is operated efficiently and professionally.
Requirements:
Event Coordinators are required to arrive two (2) hours prior to the scheduled start time of each distribution event. Good oral and written communications skills. Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to follow directions and meet established goals. Prior experience planning, organizing and promoting large events. Prior experience supervising and managing employees. Ability to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Food banking experience preferred but not required. Valid Florida Driver's License.
