POSITION CONCEPT
This position supervises the activities of SPP's Distribution Design Technicians (DDTs), Distribution Design Engineers (DDEs) and Distribution Designers working internally and for our Contract Partners (CPs) performing the design and engineering oflateral underground (LUG), feeder hardening (FH), Distribution Wood Pole Replacements (DWPR), and Distribution Wood Pole Inspection Program (DWPI). The Supervisor Distribution Design is responsible for development and oversight of the engineering/construction designs to ensure applicable codes, regulatory requirements and company standards are met.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Throughout all aspects of the positions' duties, ensure that all work is performed safely and according to Safe Work Practices. Supervise the daily operations of the DDTs, DDEs, and CP Designer resources needed to plan, design and engineer $150 million (per annum) of changes to the electrical distribution system that serves existing customers. These activities involve the application of sound engineering practice, ensuring applicable codes, regulatory requirements, proper financials, and company standards are met and balanced with the goals of the Distribution Design Team and Tampa Electric Company's corporate objectives. Approve dozens of work requests, addressing lateral underground (LUG), feeder hardening (FH), and/or osmose construction projects, verifying material and labor values, coordinating and forecasting projects, maintaining the accuracy of the WMS as well as TracPro, and negotiating deliverable expectations. (40%) Mentor direct reports in negotiations, project management coordination, billing accuracy, engineering design, and construction aspects related to existing customer electrical loads impacting SPP projects on TEC's distribution system. Provide development opportunities and job site assistance. Administer the team member Performance Review, Individual Development Plan and Positive Discipline programs. Monitor and recommend promotional and associated salary increases. Facilitate goal alignment, team member engagement, and a free flow of information for team growth. (20%) Conduct job hazard analyses and contractor compliance audits. As needed, coach employees and CP's to ensure they are in compliance with current safety procedures. Communicate safety expectations, recognize safety achievements and review safety statistics monthly. Support Safety Committee activities and Energy Delivery safety efforts. (10%) Provide direction for planning, coordination and optimization of resources utilized for SPP projects working with assigned CP(s). Coordinate on-going efforts and provide necessary changes when appropriate. (20%) Review and approve assigned CP invoices; review and approve team member business expenses. Provide input to the SPP business plan and annual budget, including the tools, methods, and procedures. Identify, evaluate and develop new and existing technologies and strategies for process improvements, efficiencies and safety. Serve as back up to the Senior Manager SPP Engineering and Outreach in his/her absence related to Engineering or customer concerns and issues. (10%)SUPERVISION
Direct:
Supervises the SPP Distribution Design (DD) department, consisting of a technical staff of DD Technicians, Leads, and Engineers; and Designers at the assigned CP(s).Indirect:
This position may have indirect supervision of the SPP Ops Engineer(s) and Project Manager(s).RELATIONSHIPS

Distribution/Transmission/Substation Engineering & Operations departments; Planning and Scheduling, Meter Operations, System Service, Mapping Services, Line Clearance, Field Construction, Lighting, Construction Services, Skills Training, Real Estate, Telecommunications, Construction, Community Relations, Environmental, Customer Service, Project Management, Claims, Human Resources, Regulatory and Corporate Communications.Key External:
Residential and commercial customers; may include County and/or City officials and their staff, Florida DOT, CSX, EPA, the FPSC and various homeowners' associations.QUALIFICATIONS
Education Required:
Minimum of aHigh School Diploma or GED Preferred:
Associate degree in relevant fieldLicenses/Certifications Required:
Valid Florida State Driver's License with clean driving recordExperience Required:
Minimum of ten years' distribution design work experience in progressively more complex technical assignments. Must have completed Levels I through V of the Distribution Design Technician training curriculum or equivalent training with another utility. Arelevantcollegedegree may be considered in lieu ofequivalentexperience.Preferred:
Completion of TEC's Supervisor Essentials Program or similar supervisory training and experience as a LeadDDT. TECO
