We are seeking an experienced Shipping and Receiving Supervisor to lead and manage all activities within the shipping, receiving, and stock processing areas of our Fort Wayne manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing departmental staff, ensuring continuous process improvement, and maintaining high standards for productivity and customer service. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in materials management and a proven ability to lead and develop a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
Supervise, direct, and coordinate the daily activities of shipping, receiving, and stock processing technicians.
Employee Development:
Provide development direction, guidance, and training to the department's workforce to meet organizational needs.
Operational Management:
Ensure the on-time delivery of shipments and the timely processing of incoming goods to inventory locations.
Process Improvement:
Propose, justify, and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance departmental efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
Quality Control:
Maintain high-quality standards for work and services provided by the shipping, receiving, and stock processing areas, minimizing shipping errors and customer complaints.
Communication:
Effectively communicate departmental activities, including status reports, project proposals, and key performance metrics, to management and related departments.
Problem-Solving:
Address operational bottlenecks, overloads, and other issues to ensure timely service and maintain proper workflow.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience. Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a relevant field. Strong working knowledge of shipping, receiving, packaging, and material handling processes and equipment. Experience with project management, cost justification, and information systems is highly desirable. Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral), and organizational skills. Proficiency in developing project proposals, cost justifications, and performance reports.
