A Warehouse or Distribution Supervisor manages daily operations at a warehouse. Hires, trains, and supervises warehouse staff, oversees inventory and the distribution of materials to and from the warehouse.
Exempt Job Purpose The Cross-Dock Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Cross-Dock Department while ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of freight. This role provides direct supervision to warehouse associates and office clerks, supports operational goals, promotes a positive work environment, and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise the daily activities of Cross-Dock associates, Shipping & Receiving personnel, and office clerks. Assign daily work, monitor productivity, and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently. Schedule employee work hours, breaks, and vacations while maintaining adequate staffing levels. Train, coach, and evaluate employees in accordance with company policies and performance expectations. Ensure compliance with warehouse procedures, safety standards, and sanitation requirements. Monitor inbound and outbound freight to ensure accuracy, quality, and timely processing. Investigate inventory discrepancies, shipping issues, and customer concerns, implementing corrective actions as needed. Verify trailer seal compliance and ensure proper load security procedures are followed. Maintain accurate operational records and complete required reports. Collaborate with warehouse leadership and other departments to improve workflow and operational efficiency. Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment. Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist with special projects as assigned. Remain flexible to work various shifts based on business needs. Minimum Requirements Minimum of 2 years of warehouse supervisory or team leadership experience, preferably in a wholesale or distribution environment. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced operation. Working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, shipping, and receiving. Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or some college coursework preferred. Two or more years of warehouse leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Wholesale or distribution center experience is highly preferred. Frequent interaction with warehouse equipment, forklifts, and moving freight. Fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and attention to detail.
