Logistics / Shipping & Receiving Lead Position Summary The Logistics / Shipping & Receiving Lead is a hands-on leadership role responsible for both performing and leading all inbound and outbound shipping, receiving, warehousing, and delivery activities. This position actively executes daily shipping, receiving, staging, transportation, and delivery tasks while also coordinating workflow, maintaining quality standards, managing equipment and supplies, and ensuring materials and finished jobs are handled accurately, safely, and on time. The Lead serves as the primary resource for logistics operations and works alongside team members to support production flow and customer satisfaction. Primary Objectives

Key Responsibilities Leadership, Management & Accountability (LMA) Lead by example through active participation in daily shipping, receiving, and delivery operations Provide clear leadership and direction to the shipping and delivery team Set expectations for performance, accuracy, safety, and behavior Coordinate and manage day-to-day shipping, receiving, and delivery activities Monitor results and address issues promptly Hold team members accountable to company standards, processes, and goals Conduct regular coaching, quarterly conversations, and annual performance reviews Model company values and reinforce a culture of ownership and accountability Provide training and support to team members while maintaining productivity within the department Shipping, Receiving & Delivery Operations Perform and oversee daily shipping, receiving, and delivery activities Load, unload, move, stage, and organize materials and finished products Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing lists Receive, inspect, and properly store incoming inventory and supplies Prepare, package, label, and state outgoing shipments and deliveries Coordinate carriers, delivery routes, and pickup schedules Provide shipping cost estimates and recommend appropriate shipping methods based on job requirements, timelines, and cost efficiency Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, company vehicles, and other material-handling equipment as required Perform or support local deliveries and customer pickups as needed Assist with after-hours, expedited, or special delivery requirements when necessary Workflow & Process Coordination Manage priorities based on production and delivery schedules Coordinate with Production, Mailing, and Project Management teams Ensure shipping and delivery processes and documentation are followed Resolve workflow issues impacting delivery timelines Monitor work queues and proactively adjust resources to meet deadlines Equipment, Vehicle & Supply Management Maintain and oversee shipping and delivery equipment, tools, and vehicles Monitor inventory levels and manage shipping and delivery supplies Ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained, clean, and safe Coordinate repairs, inspections, and reorders Perform routine inspections and identify maintenance needs before they impact operations Quality Control Verify shipment and delivery accuracy, quantities, and condition Ensure packaging protects products during transit Reduce shipping errors, delivery damage, and rework Implement corrective actions for discrepancies Process and manage claims for damaged or lost shipments with carriers, including documentation, investigation, and resolution Track and document spoilage, damage, or material waste by job Conduct final shipment reviews to ensure customer requirements are met Organization, Safety & Compliance Maintain clean, organized shipping, receiving, warehouse, and delivery areas Enforce safety procedures and proper material handling practices Ensure compliance with
OSHA, DOT
(as applicable), and company standards Train and reinforce safe shipping and delivery practices Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to logistics, safety, and efficiency Communication & Reporting Assign daily tasks and delivery routes Communicate delays, risks, or issues promptly Provide status updates and reporting to leadership Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, delivery, and inventory records Communicate proactively with internal department regarding schedule changes, material shortages, or delivery concerns Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
