Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Water Plant & Distribution Lead Operator, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of water treatment and distribution systems. This energetic position offers the opportunity to lead operational activities, troubleshoot complex equipment, and uphold the highest safety standards. Responsibilities Operate and oversee water treatment plants and distribution systems, ensuring optimal performance of equipment such as pumps, valves, and water treatment units. Monitor process variables using programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) to maintain water quality standards. Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on industrial pumps, and other critical machinery to prevent downtime. Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements for efficiency and compliance. Manage heavy equipment operation including construction machinery for maintenance or emergency responses. Document all operational activities accurately in logs, reports, and compliance records to support environmental regulations and internal audits. Collaborate with team members on environmental compliance initiatives, and infrastructure upgrades. Must have a high school diploma or GED Must have at least a class # drivers license, Must be a US Citizen Must have a favorable driving record Have a DNR "Class C" Water Operators Certification or be able to obtain one with in the first year of employment Experience Proven experience working in water treatment and distribution with a strong understanding of water systems operations. Mechanical knowledge related to pump operation, industrial pump maintenance and repair, plumbing, and general equipment repair. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, operate construction equipment, and conduct heavy equipment maintenance tasks. Strong analysis skills complemented by basic math proficiency for data collection and troubleshooting processes. Familiarity with construction experience or working in environments requiring heavy equipment operation is a plus.
