Job Description

Description Onsite:
This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the GM Defense Production Facility on a full-time basis (Second shift is four (4) 10's, Sunday- Wednesday, 16:30-03:00am).

The Role:
As Warehouse Distribution Lead (2nd Shift) you will work with a cross functional team of GMD Employees- focusing on problem solving, process improvement, and material delivery strategies
What You'll Do:
Train Material Operators on their job duties and responsibilities; cross trains as necessary. Create and maintain material operation standardized work Assist and guide material operators fostering an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Lead material related process improvement projects: productivity, quality, ergonomics, material delivery routes, plant moves, etc. Track/Maintain Receiving, shipping and material issues that arise, escalate to address. Lead Material Business Plan Deployment Level 5 board review Support Global Manufacturing System and IATF Certification efforts Other duties assigned by the Manager. Organize and maintain material in DLOCs Pick parts to kits Comprehend ship schedule and build requirements Maintain Plan For Every Part (DLOC, coord ULOC) Maintain visuals (with MIN/MAX) in DLOC, kit cells, and lineside Stock parts to ULOC for each build Report MIN/MAX violations (alarms) to Material Follow Up Coordinator Count parts in DLOC, kit cell, and ULOC and report Participate in floor safety review Participate in quality reviews Assist Dock operations as needed Completes administrative tasks, and supports leadership team as needed Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) High School Diploma or GED Forklift Certification Minimum of 2 years of experience driving Forklift trucks in a manufacturing/warehouse environment. Ability to work over-time, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed Candidate must either be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee) or a non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required export control authorization.
Physical Requirements:
Quick response to safety instructions, alarms, and signals are a must Drive vehicles and equipment when needed Comfortably wear personal protective equipment Ability to walk and stand for extended periods Navigate a busy warehouse Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, and reach May need to lift or carry materials weighing up to 40 lbs. depending on department What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications) Government contract experience #GMD GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
