Job Description

Full job description Potter Inc is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Supervisor to join our team as a valuable member of the manufacturing team. This person will lead daily shipping operations by coordinating workflows, enforcing department procedures, and ensuring on-time customer deliveries. This role requires a hands-on leader who can provide clear direction, make quick and sound decisions, and keep the shipping and receiving departments running efficiently to meet customer expectations and maintain inbound freight flow. The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shipping and receiving docks, leading the team safely and effectively, and ensuring shipments are completed accurately and on schedule. Responsibilities Supervise the shipping/receiving departments and manage Shipping/Receiving Coordinator. Maintain accurate staffing levels in the Shipping and Receiving department and interview and recommend applicants as needed Plan daily workloads, prioritize shipments, and make quick operational decisions as needed. Communicate with manufacturing and management teams regarding changes in shipping needs or operational requirements. Prepare required reports, including explanations for inventory adjustments or discrepancies. Monitor safety compliance, conduct safety inspections, and ensure forklift checklists are completed. Conduct forklift safety training In the absence of key personnel, complete or delegate essential duties to trained and qualified team members. Proactively communicate regularly with freight carriers Manage UPS and FedEx shipping process Qualifications Professional, respectful, and team-oriented approach with the ability to build positive working relationships. High school diploma or equivalent, higher education helpful. Previous experience in a shipping environment is preferred, but willing to train the ideal candidate. Working knowledge of freight processes. Ability to work 40 hours per week Operate office equipment including calculator, computer, copiers, fax machines, printers and phone. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook Ability to read, write and communicate both verbally and written Ability to work independently Detail oriented Valid driver's license and insurable by company insurance. Ability to drive company box/straight truck preferred. Forklift experience preferred Work Environment & physical/mental demands Ability to work first shift, as Potter Inc operates exclusively on first shift Plant environment includes exposure to both hot and cold temperatures (non-weather related). Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds Frequently perform tasks that require physical activity Effectively communicate with a variety of team members and vendor partners
