Job Description
Established chemical blender with solid growth and excellent benefits has Immediate availability for a permanent, full-time FIRST shift shipping manager. The Shipping Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe, accurate, and timely shipment of finished chemical blends in a variety of container sizes, including hazardous materials. This position will coordinate daily shipping activities, ensure compliance with DOT requirements, and provide direction to shipping personnel to maintain an efficient and safe operation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Manage and coordinate the daily shipping of finished chemical blends, including hazardous materials, in a safe, secure, and timely manner and in compliance with all applicable DOT requirements. Supervise, train, and provide direction to shipping personnel to ensure shipping procedures and company standards are consistently followed. Coordinate and prioritize outbound shipments based on production schedules, customer requirements, and carrier availability. Ensure finished materials are properly staged, packaged, labeled, and prepared for shipment. Verify materials, quantities, labels, and shipping documentation for accuracy prior to loading. Review and ensure accuracy of Bills of Lading (BOLs), shipping paperwork, and hazardous material documentation. Coordinate and oversee the loading of carriers with finished materials according to BOLs and established safety procedures. Work directly with carriers, drivers, production, customer service, and other departments to resolve shipping issues and maintain on-time shipments. Ensure proper handling, storage, and movement of hazardous materials and finished products. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area and ensure employees follow all applicable safety procedures. Monitor shipping equipment and communicate maintenance or repair needs. Assist with shipping activities and operate material-handling equipment as needed to support the department. Maintain accurate shipping records and assist with audits, inspections, and regulatory requirements. Competencies. Physical demands and abilities:
Capable of driving a sit-down Forklift Regularly required to utilize a shrink wrapper The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds without assistance and move up to 500-pound drums using appropriate equipment, e.g., power floor jack, drum dolly, and/or forklift.Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED);Experience:
2- 3 years related shipping experience and/or training with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred. DOT hazmat training preferred. Beneficial Certificates Forklift Certification
- Hazmat Certification CDL Other transportation, logistics, or safety-related certifications
