Job Summary The Yard Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily yard operations to ensure materials are safely received, stored, pulled, and loaded accurately and efficiently. This role leads yard staff by assigning work, maintaining organization and safety standards, and ensuring customers and delivery drivers are supported with timely and correct product fulfillment. The Yard Foreman plays a key role in maintaining productivity, cleanliness, and operational excellence throughout the yard. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily yard activities including receiving, stocking, staging, pulling, and loading of materials. Lead yard employees by providing direction, training, and daily work assignments. Ensure all yard operations follow company safety policies and OSHA standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional yard environment. Verify product accuracy when pulling and loading customer orders and delivery trucks. Coordinate with inside sales, dispatch, and warehouse personnel to ensure timely order fulfillment. Monitor inventory placement and ensure materials are stored correctly to prevent damage or loss. Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and material reconciliation as assigned. Operate forklifts and other yard equipment as needed. Identify workflow issues and communicate operational needs to management. Ensure yard equipment is properly maintained and report repair needs immediately. Handle customer interactions professionally and assist with loading when needed. Support delivery scheduling by staging loads and preparing materials for next-day dispatch. Enforce yard policies, attendance standards, and performance expectations among yard staff. Daily Tasks Coordinate shipping, pulling, and loading of deliveries. Check-in incoming deliveries as needed; understand PO receiving procedure. Ensure customer service standards are met in yard, supervise customer loaders. Minimize inventory shrinkage through cycle counts, supervision of correct loading procedures, and correct billing of materials. approving all returns. Ensure daily preventative maintenance checks are all completed. Coordinate equipment repairs, as necessary. Ensure special orders are received correctly, tagged, and stored safely for delivery. Coordinate dispatching operations w/ other location. Skills and Qualifications Strong knowledge of yard operations, loading procedures, and material handling. Ability to lead a team and delegate tasks effectively. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Forklift experience required (certification preferred). Strong communication skills with staff, drivers, and customers. Ability to enforce safety policies consistently. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and operate equipment for extended periods. Must be able to safely operate forklifts and other machinery. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. This position works primarily outdoors in a yard setting with exposure to weather, dust, loud noise, heavy equipment, and moving vehicles. Proper PPE must be worn at all times. Compensation Pay is based on experience.
