ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Responsible for the overall shipping, receiving and inventory activities to ensure that accuracy, cost, and on time delivery standards are met. Supervises the daily activities and performance of shipping/receiving/warehouse staff. Responsible for inventory and accurate flow of raw materials and finished goods, 6C/Workplace organization, employee morale, safety, and performance. Ensures the overall department needs are met to include training, materials, and equipment. Interviews, hires, and recommends wage adjustments for reporting personnel. Coaches performance and company policy through communication, documentation and consequence up to termination of employment. Communicates necessary information in daily and weekly meetings. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities between departments and shifts. Responsible for building a culture of teamwork and commitment to continuous improvement.
Other responsibilities include:
Prepares shipping reports, pick lists and bills of lading personally or through a designate Prepares shipping labels to affix on cartons or items using manual/electronic machines. Utilizes the computer system (ERP) to receive stock on hand. Reports inventory shortages and monitors the progress of those items through the production process. Communicates with customer traffic and/or carriers for setting up shipments/deliveries. Sets-up expedited deliveries with transportation companies. This role is primarily engaged in administrative and managerial duties. This job description reflects the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Additional duties and responsibilities may be required, based upon business needs, at any time with or without notice.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience. Minimum 3 years of experience in a shipping leadership role within a manufacturing organization strongly desired. Experience with ERP systems and automated shipping environments (ASN transactions, Logistics Systems, RF data collection, etc.) Requires the ability to communicate effectively both horizontally and vertically within the organization and through customer contacts.
