This position is specifically intended to provide weekend operational coverage and will work a four-day schedule of either Friday through Monday or Saturday through Tuesday on 1st shift. Candidates must be available to work weekends as part of their regular schedule. This is a hands-on position, responsible for receiving, loading, unloading, and shipping freight; coordinating with drivers and drayage companies; monitoring inbound and outbound shipments; and ensuring the correct documentation and system updates are completed throughout the process. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Receive inbound freight and verify freight against the appropriate shipping documentation. Maintain an organized and safe warehouse and dock environment. Work directly with Mexican carriers, drayage companies, transfer companies, and drivers to coordinate freight movement. Maintain communication with drivers regarding pickups, deliveries, trailer movements, and cross-border activity. Coordinate southbound trailer movements and ensure required documentation and operational information are available before movement. Monitor cross-border shipments and communicate delays, documentation issues, or other operational concerns to the appropriate team members. Accurately update shipment statuses, trailer information, freight information, and other required details within company systems. Maintain accurate electronic records associated with shipping and receiving activities. Use Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications as required. Quickly learn and effectively use multiple transportation and warehouse management systems. Assist with scheduling and coordinating local equipment and driver availability. Monitor pickup and delivery progress and communicate delays or changes. Help identify the most efficient use of available local transportation resources. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Bilingual (Spanish and English) 3+ years of warehouse experience, including shipping, receiving, cross-dock, or similar freight operations. 3+ years of forklift experience. Demonstrated experience properly and safely loading and unloading trailers. Assist with cross-dock operations, including transferring freight between trailers as required. Experience working with cross-border freight and shipping/receiving documentation. Experience working with drayage companies, carriers, and commercial drivers. Experience with the southbound process of crossing trailers and freight into Mexico. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience dispatching, planning and coordinating local pickups and deliveries. Experience working in a Laredo cross-border, transfer, or drayage environment. Have working knowledge of LTL freight operations, including handling multiple shipments and properly separating and identifying freight. Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), or shipment-tracking platforms.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong organizational and time-management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Ability to communicate professionally with drivers, carriers, drayage companies, customers, and internal team members. Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions. Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Dependable and able to follow established procedures. Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn. Comfortable working both on the warehouse floor and on a computer throughout the workday. Physical Requirements Ability to safely operate a forklift and other warehouse material-handling equipment. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to bend, reach, climb, push, and pull as required during normal warehouse operations. Ability to work in a warehouse and dock environment may be exposed to varying temperatures and weather conditions.
