JOB PURPOSE

The Shipping Coordinator position reports to the Warehouse Manager for Pet Food. The shipping clerk is responsible for scheduling load deliveries to TFP Nutrition (Texas Farm Products) and arranging for live loads to pick up product. This includes preparing the bills of lading that must accompany all loads. The shipping clerk will check drivers in and out on a computer log. This log will be utilized to track efficiencies in the warehouse. In addition, the shipping clerk is responsible for maintaining the broken bag log and other relevant documentation pertaining warehouse activities. The shipping clerk will have a key role in all inventory activities including empty bag, finished goods, recycle and bagged ingredients. Good typing skills and ten key operation are a requirement of this position. SCOPE The scope replaces all previous documents for the Pet Food Manufacturing warehouse and manufacturing plant shipping clerk.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Receive product/inventory from various locations and document these moves accurately to specific locations and or storage areas. Must be computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Office, Outlook and Access. This includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Track incoming loads and all yard trailers, customers trucks and empty bag loads. Verify load accuracy and bill of lading with current systems. Customer service will be an important function in this role. You will be expected to interface with customers on a daily basis. Interaction with all customers must be with professionalism and courteousness at all times. Keep assigned areas clean at all times. Be safety conscious during all activities. Good attendance is an expectation of this position. Excessive tardiness and absences will not be tolerated. Interface with other departments, managers and supervisors as needed to fulfill the objectives of your role and the requirements of the shipping department. Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Report directly to warehouse manager. Work closely with all warehouse and shipping personnel. As required, work with accounting, IT and all other manufacturing departments.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES

Operate 10 Key Work competently utilizing Outlook email and calendars. Verify drivers are preparing trailers properly by auditing trailers before they are loaded to make sure they meet our rigid standards of cleanliness and food safety requirements. Complete all filing and paperwork daily before leaving for the day. Maintain your work space in a professional manner, neat and orderly at all times. Maintain Shipping log as directed to monitor the activities of the shipping department. Generate reports to other departments as directed. Follow all established plant safety rules.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional climbing, bending/stooping, crouching, and kneeling. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds occasionally. Good eye-hand coordination.

COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

Must have adequate math skills to count bags accurately and ensure accuracy of weights. Must have adequate reasoning skills to perform assigned inventory tasks. Must have adequate reading skills to read information on bags, tags, ingredient labels, posted safety signs, and pre-printed shipping invoices.

TEMPERAMENT ATTRIBUTES

Ability to relate with customers, coworkers, and supervisors to enhance customer service and the efficient operation of the warehouse. Ability to maintain job-required attention to detail over an extended period of time. Ability to work without close supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employees in this position must be able to perform under the following conditions: Work area is not climate-controlled; employee is subject to indoor environment with protection from weather conditions but not temperature variations. Dusty conditions that may require wearing dust mask.
