Full Job Description Summary of Position:
The Warehouse Lead is responsible for maintaining and improving a highly functional, organized, and efficient warehouse operation. This pivotal role ensures the warehouse and inventory systems are effectively supporting every department within Sutter Home and Hearth, including sales, service, installation, and administration. The primary focus is managing the function, organization, and efficiency of the warehouse and inventory systems, while also assisting with the stewardship and maintenance of the grounds, facilities, and equipment. This role also provides occasional field support to service and installation teams, including help with product deliveries and occasionally installations. This is a hands-on and dynamic role that requires a deep understanding of the flow of products in and out of the company. It will involve meaningful collaboration with all departments and broadly impact operations at Sutter Home and Hearth. Key Responsibilities - Warehouse & Inventory Management:
Maintain a well-organized, neat, and safe warehouse environment. Oversee receiving, inspection, storage, staging, and distribution of products. Manage inventory systems with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Perform and coordinate inventory audits, cycle counts, and reconciliations. Collaborate with purchasing, service, installation, and sales departments to ensure proper stock levels and product availability. Process Improvement & Leadership:
Follow existing protocols and procedures meticulously while also contributing to their evolution. Identify inefficiencies and propose the implementation of new processes, tools, or procedures. Take ownership of warehouse improvement initiatives, making changes to systems, layout, and workflows as needed to meet current and future business goals. Exercise agency in making decisions that align with broader company objectives and drive positive change. Demonstrate both discipline in execution and creativity in problem-solving and strategic thinking. Interdepartmental Coordination:
Stage products for installation and support timely and accurate delivery of products and materials for jobs. Serve as the key logistics contact for sales, service, installation, and administrative teams. Work collaboratively to ensure warehouse operations align with the needs of all departments. Facilities & Equipment Maintenance Manage upkeep of the warehouses, facilities, exterior grounds, and all equipment. Support, coordinate, and track vehicle fleet maintenance Coordinate maintenance tasks and third-party repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner. Assist with showroom display setups Ensure spaces are well-kept, safe, and reflective of Sutter Home & Hearth's standards and brand. Field Support:
Load, secure, and transport items in accordance with safety protocols. Assist technicians in the field as needed during peak periods, vacation coverage, or special projects with product deliveries and installations. Drive safely and represent Sutter with professionalism at customer's homes and job sites. Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience in warehouse, inventory, or logistics management. Exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail - you care that there is a place for everything and everything is in its place! Proficient with inventory management systems and computer systems. Ability to follow protocols, procedures, and strategic plans — while also proactively improving or creating them. Forklift experience required; certification preferred. Capable of physical labor including lifting, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and power equipment operation. Comfortable with occasional offsite work (company provided transportation) and supporting technicians in the field. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work across departments effectively. Confident in leading or contributing to change initiatives and continuous improvement to make the warehouse and inventory operations work better. Driver's License Working Conditions:
Full-time, on-site position. Start time 7:30AM - 4:00PM Primary work in the warehouse and facilities; occasional support in the field/outdoors. Physically demanding work including lifting, team lifting, bending, reaching, and operating warehouse equipment including electric forklift. Some extended hours during busy seasons or project deadlines may be required, OT is paid. Performance Metrics:
