Job Description

Job Summary:
1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm. Occasional overtime. Aids in the production of materials in the bindery by running small machinery, staging and moving materials, staging packing materials, packing, loading pockets and performing any bindery tasks which can not be performed by machine and must be performed by hand. Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist in the shipping department when needed. Demonstrates the ability to read and understand job ticket for each job to determine production requirements. Responsible for recording time to be charged to the customer for each individual job. Demonstrate the ability to perform the following activities safely, accurately and efficiently: drilling paper, preparing paper and stacking product prior to and after bindery processing, accurate hand collating, keeping product organized, shrink wrapping product, hand gluing, gathering mail, plastic coiling, etc. Assists Bindery Operators as needed, to set up specific bindery machinery to meet the specifics of each job according to the instructions on the job ticket. Receives products as they come off the machines and packages them for shipping or further processing, according to each job ticket. Operate essential shipping equipment, such as pallet jacks, fork lights and shrink wrap outgoing pallets. Familiarity with scanners, label printers, and packaging equipment. Responsible for maintaining a neat, clean & organized work area. Performs all other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
The position requires that the employee have a high school diploma or equivalent. They must be at work promptly as scheduled each day, have some mechanical aptitude, and be able to read and calculate measurements. Shipping experience is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires that the employee have the ability to lift, push and pull in an 8-10 hour day, up to 10-30 pounds frequently, 30-50 pounds occasionally, 50-70 pounds infrequently, to maneuver in tight places, be able to handle small tools and operate mechanical lifting devices.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This employee works mostly in the finishing area where the noise level is low to moderate. There may be some exposure to chemicals, heated surfaces, and sharp and /or moving machine parts.
