Job Description

Shipping Supervisor SummaryUnder the direction of the Supply Chain Director, the Shipping Supervisor is responsible to oversee daily operations of the finished goods warehouse. This will include shipping, receiving, stocking, kitting, and distributing materials as well as supplies across multiple locations. This position supports delivery requirements for both internal and external customers. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Supervises the daily operations for picking, packing, shipping, receiving, returns, audit and inventory control across multiple locationsEnsures verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of material while keeping accurate inventory countsAssigns work schedules and overtime as needed with input from other members of managementProvides daily supervision to Warehouse employees. Supervision duties include training and coaching employees, monitoring performance and appraising job results, rewarding and disciplining employeesUses computer to process shipping and receiving transactionsSuggests efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assists with the implementation of changes within inbound and outbound warehouse operationsCompletes cycle counts and reconcile physical inventory balances stored in current business system. Identifies root cause for discrepanciesInspects physical condition of the warehouse and equipment and prepares work orders for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment; reports on and corrects safety concernsAssists in reconciling invoices and receiving transaction discrepanciesAdheres to all safety policies and maintain housekeeping as necessaryQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or ExperienceHigh School diploma or equivalent required. Five years of experience in a warehouse environment required2-3 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing/warehouse setting preferred Other Skills Able to work with Microsoft officePrevious experience with MPR, ERP or other inventory control software preferredLanguage SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as purchase orders, requisitions, quotations and other related documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, customers and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical SkillsAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
