This role serves as the primary link between physical material movement on the shop floor and accurate inventory transactions in the ERP system. Working closely with Leads and Supervisors, the Material Handler I reviews daily production schedules, stages and delivers materials to assembly workstations, moves completed products to shipping, and ensures all inventory movements are accurately and promptly transacted in the ERP system. This position plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production flow, and reducing downstream cleanup and rework. This role is expected to uphold material, inventory, and transaction discipline as a standard part of daily work. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Review daily production schedules with Leads and Supervisors to understand material needs and priorities
- Locate, pick, stage, and deliver required materials (e.g., tubes, shafts, bearing units, and miscellaneous components) to designated workstations
- Perform timely and accurate inventory transactions in Syteline, including material issues, transfers, returns, and completions
- Follow defined material and transaction processes, avoiding system bypasses for speed or convenience
- Move completed or assembled products from production areas to shipping or designated storage locations
- Return excess or unused materials to inventory and ensure proper system transactions are completed
- Identify inventory discrepancies and initiate cycle counts when quantities appear inaccurate
- Assist with scrap handling by: o Separating true scrap from reusable material o Completing appropriate scrap or adjustment transactions in the ERP system0
- Maintain organized staging, WIP, and material storage areas to support efficient production flow
- Communicate proactively with Leads, Supervisors, and Planning when material shortages, discrepancies, or delays are identified
- Follow all safety procedures when handling materials and operating material handling equipment
- Other related duties as assigned Leadership & Accountability
- Take ownership of material accuracy from inventory to point of use and through completion
- Ensure all material movement is properly transacted in the ERP system and avoid undocumented workarounds
- Understand that accurate transactions are as critical as physical material delivery
- Communicate material issues, shortages, or discrepancies promptly rather than working around them
- Support production flow by staging materials correctly and on time without creating downstream confusion Accept responsibility for mistakes and work with Leads or Supervisors to correct them quickly Qualifications & Skills
- Hands-on experience moving, staging, or handling materials in support of production
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of the importance of accurate inventory data
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
- Basic computer skills, including data entry and navigating production or inventory systems
- Ability to lift, move, and handle materials in accordance with safety guidelines
- Dependable with consistent attendance Experience & Education
- Previous experience in a material handler, inventory control, or production support role preferred, but not required
- Experience using an ERP system (Syteline strongly preferred) for inventory or production transactions
- Familiarity with cycle counting and inventory accuracy practices
- Prior manufacturing experience preferred but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent required Work Environment Work is performed in a manufacturing environment that may include exposure to noise, moving machinery, varying temperatures, dust, and odors.
