Job Description
At Alvarado Street Bakery we are a band of uncompromising Sprouters and Bakers out to make the best tasting bread that is actually good for you. We are not your typical bakery, we a worker owned bakery. That means every person is important and we all share in the success together. Alvarado Street Bakery is looking to add more talent to its production team and is looking for experienced Mixer/Former/Ingredients handlers as well as packagers. The position is described in a general way, because all production workers are cross-trained to most, if not all, stations. All shifts require individual flexibility in terms of starting times and are involved with the coverage needs of the entire department. Training will initially occur at either 5 am or 8 am depending on the position. We will work with individual preferences on start times. The current schedule is four to five shifts and approximately 32 to 40 hours per week, depending on customer demand. Current dates are Sunday-Friday. These positions are full-time. Current Qualifications Good English communication skills Ability to work in a cooperative and team-like manner Effective time management skills Willingness to work variable hours with some overtime flexibility Ability to lift 50-lbs in a safe manner Detail-oriented, Prompt and dependable Ability to work using proper body mechanics Good math and computer skills Ability to follow oral and written work instructions Self-motivated Working Conditions Standing 99% of the time with pushing, pulling and lifting movements Working in loud conditions necessitating the use of hearing protection Fast-paced job tasks Much reliance on co-workers Hot working temperatures
