Job Description

Batching Operator responsible for chemical handling, material batching, blending, sampling, confined space tank cleaning, equipment upkeep, and production support in a plant environment. Job Requirements Ability to follow safety, quality, security, and operations policies and procedures Ability to work in confined spaces after completion of required confined space training Ability to clean tanks and mix tanks using shovels, air tools, or other equipment Ability to handle chemicals safely Experience reading and working with SOPs Basic math skills Ability to batch, weigh, sample, and blend materials according to SOP requirements Understanding of lockout/tagout procedures Understanding of hazard communication policies Familiarity with standard operating procedures and operator manuals for safe equipment operation Ability to complete safety training assessments by written or verbal examination Ability to understand and follow posted facility signage Ability to monitor multiple processes at the same time 20/20 vision or corrected 20/20 vision Ability to hear and speak Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, stoop, and kneel Ability to complete repetitive strenuous work under varying climate conditions Ability to safely lift up to 70 pounds Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to work in a plant environment with varying temperature levels and physical requirements Preferred Skills Forklift experience Chemical manufacturing experience Light chemical manufacturing experience Experience performing quality control sampling Experience recording inventory movements on batch sheets Experience cleaning mix tanks or production tanks Experience training personnel on safe mixing equipment operation Job Responsibilities Follow daily scheduled activities provided by supervision Handle chemicals according to safety requirements Batch, weigh, and sample materials Blend and weigh ingredients according to SOP specifications Follow standard operating procedures, company policies, and safety regulations Clean tanks and mix tanks on a rotating schedule after confined space training is completed Use shovels, air tools, or other equipment to support confined space tank cleaning Maintain housekeeping in assigned work areas and throughout the facility Perform daily upkeep of work areas and assigned equipment Report problems and unusual situations to supervision Maintain schedule efficiency to meet production demand Communicate with supervision and QC technicians during batch processes Record inventory movements from each batch onto batch sheets Perform periodic sampling for quality control Follow supervisor and QC technician direction to ensure products meet quality standards Assist with general labor tasks as needed Assist with training new personnel on safe mixing equipment operation as assigned
