Structural Steel Fabrication Shop | Safety-Focused Position Are you experienced in handling heavy metal materials and operating overhead cranes? We're looking for a dependable, safety-minded Material Handler with overhead crane experience to join a structural metal fabrication shop. We need someone who understands how to safely move, lift, position, and stage heavy structural steel while keeping production moving and maintaining a safe work environment. Ideal candidate will be someone who takes pride in doing the job right, understands that safety always comes first, and knows that moving heavy steel requires skill, awareness, and attention to detail.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate overhead cranes to lift and move large steel beams, structural members, and other heavy materials. Safely rig, secure, lift, and position materials using appropriate lifting equipment. Load, unload, and stage steel for fabrication and production. Follow all safety procedures, lifting practices, and material-handling requirements. Inspect rigging equipment and lifting accessories before use and report any damage or unsafe conditions. Operating a forklift safely as needed. Communicate clearly with crane operators, riggers, welders, fabricators, and other shop personnel. Keep work areas organized and free of hazards. Prioritize safety, accuracy, and teamwork in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

Skills needed:

1 year - Previous overhead crane operating experience required. 1 year - Experience handling large structural steel beams and heavy metal materials. Knowledge of safe lifting, rigging, load control, and material-handling practices. Ability to recognize hazards and follow established safety procedures. Experience with forklifts is ideal.
