General Purpose of Job This position is responsible for receiving, storing, and issuing warehouse items; conducts regularly scheduled cycle counts. Gathers materials for jobs, loads, and unloads trucks, sort materials and maintains inventory documentation. Using material handling equipment ensures that materials are moved and stored in proper locations; maintains cleanliness, safety and order of the warehouse facility and outside storage areas. Technical Knowledge and Material Handling :
Possesses the ability to acquire knowledge of RUS construction specifications for electric utility distribution and transmission line construction, and to become proficient in operating material handling equipment, including vehicles and forklifts.
Communication and Customer Service :
Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and listening, with a customer service-oriented attitude to effectively interact with employees, management, contractors, vendors, and the public.
Inventory and Material Management :
Knowledge and understanding of material management, inventory procedures, material barcoding, and storage principles.
Problem Solving and Analytical Skills :
Strong reading comprehension, writing, and basic math skills, with the ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Adaptability and Stress Management :
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, managing stress and pressure in a frequently changing environment.
Computer and Software Proficiency :
Basic skill in personal computer operation and knowledge of MS Office products; ability to learn and use applicable corporate computer systems related to the position. Material Management and Inventory Control:
- Assemble, issue, receive, stock, and retire material for line crews and contractors based on material lists or staking sheets.
- Prepare appropriate documentation and enter data into the inventory control system on a daily basis.
- Conduct periodic cycle counts, ensuring the accuracy of materials counted and processing final counts in a timely manner.
- Reconcile inventory discrepancies and prepare necessary corrections.
- Evaluate items for salvage, return, or retirement, and restock materials as needed.
Material Handling and Shipping:
- Load and unload freight and trucks using material handling equipment such as forklifts, hand-trucks, or pallet jacks as required.
- Handle material returns, warranty claims, and shipping issues; prepare packages for shipping as directed.
- Assist with the delivery of materials to construction or service restoration sites and other Cooperative facilities.
Training and Support:
- Assist in training entry-level helpers and line personnel in identifying materials and following stock procedures.
Warehouse Organization and Maintenance:
- Ensure the warehouse and all outside storage areas are consistently maintained in a clean and organized manner.
Living Requirement - To ensure timely response to Call Outs, must live within 40 miles radius from the assigned reporting location. Employees who live more than a 40-mile radius from their assigned reporting location must relocate within 6-months of employment.
