Job Description

Second Shift Hours:
3:00pm to 11:30pm
OSITION OBJECTIVE
The position objective of the Packaging Material Handler is to be part of a team which main goal is to package bulk products into containers that will be delivered to the customers following SOP's and cGMP guidelines. The operator is responsible for the quality of the product they produce.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Ensure that the packaging line is set-up and runs productively following all Packaging-Operations SOP's and cGMP's, food safety regulations, and safety procedures. Clean filler room and equipment prior to the start and end of shift. Set up, start filler machine; monitor the Auger, Hopper, Spinner Plates, and all other functions inside the filler. Adjust conveyor speed, delay after fill & transfer time (for weight accuracy), from the control box, in order to meet product specifications and operating procedures. Install, align, and lock specified inlets, mounting brackets, pump unit(s), air connectors, and other fixtures. Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and perform routine maintenance of machines such as lubrication, calibration, adjustments, etc. Complete appropriate paperwork. Fills, weigh, secure, labels, and package containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Complies with company policies and maintains regular work attendance. Personal responsibility for following safety rules, SOP's, and cGMP's guidelines. Maintains a clean and orderly work area. Use of safety protective equipment while inside the filler room. Physical ability to perform repetitive motion, lift, stand, climb, bend, etc, within a manufacturing environment. Transfer materials, supplies, and products between work areas, using moving equipment and hand tools. Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA 1.
Previous Related Experience Required At least 6 months of equivalent machine operation experience, prior experience in a pharmaceutical/nutraceutical environment, familiarity with manufacturing processes and equipment procedures preferred, proven knowledge of high speed, manufacturing equipment. 2. Education High school diploma/certificate; or 6 months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 4. Other requirements Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Ability to stand for 8-10 hours daily. Flexibility to work overtime, holidays, weekend, on short notice, as needed. Flexibility to work longer hours in order to meet deadlines, as needed. Availability to work day shift or night shift, and accommodate change of shift, if needed. Must have excellent dexterity. Ability to perform repetitive tasks for a long period of time.
INDIVIDUAL SPECIFIC JOB TASKS
Ensures that the packaging line is set-up and runs productively and efficiently following all the SOP's and cGMP's guidelines. Follow all the PPE guidelines. Performs the filling, weighing, securing, labeling, and packaging of the containers as per company and/or customer specifications following all the SOP's and cGMP's guidelines. Works along with Line Lead and QC to ensure that the proper fill weights are being met by customer specifications. Helps to maintain a positive working environment within the packaging line and department. Identifies any deficiencies, constraints, and/or problems that could impede the efficient packaging process flow and assist and/or provide ideas and feedback to solve them. Maintain working area orderly and clean. Works efficiently to achieve all the production output goals. Perform operational tasks and equipment maintenance as needed, requested, directed, or instructed by the supervisor/manager. Able to assist with equipment preventive maintenance and operational tasks as needed. Utilize Safety in the Workplace Best Practices. Follow MSDS instructions and compliance with the Lockout/Tagout program, if and when applicable; adhere to safety policies and procedures at all times. Report any out-of-compliance items to the supervisor immediately. Helps in training co-worker to fill in departmental needs. Do whatever it takes to accomplish the tasks. May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
