GENERAL DESCRIPTION
: Performs a variety of activities in the maintenance, construction, and repair of utility mains and facilities. This is a semiskilled position, working under the direct supervision of the immediate supervisor and crew leader. High School Diploma / GED. No experience is required. On the job training is provided to obtain required licenses. Valid driver's license and good driving record required. Overtime opportunities. Performs repairs to water distribution systems Installs and maintains service lines Operates a variety of trucks and equipment Operates a variety of hand and power tools Responds to after-hours calls when serving on-call. Experience:
High School Diploma / GED.
License, Certifications, or Registrations:
Valid driver's license and good driving record. Must possess, or obtain within six (6) months of hire, a valid Florida Class "A" Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP). Must possess, or obtain within eighteen (18) months of hire, a valid Florida Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Must possess, or obtain within eighteen (18) months of hire, a Florida Level 3 Water Distribution System Operator License.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of and skill in the use of materials, methods, practices, and equipment used in pipe fitting. Knowledge of the construction and repair of utility facilities. Knowledge of water and sewer systems. Ability to work from sketches, maps, and blueprints. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Good physical ability. Strength to do heavy lifting and carrying and to work under adverse weather conditions. Ability to operate various types of power tools and equipment used to install, maintain, or repair utility mains and services. Ability to work on-call.
