Lube Technician Job Description This role supports day-to-day machine shop operations by monitoring and maintaining coolant and lubricant levels, assisting with light preventative maintenance, and keeping work areas clean and safe. You will work hands-on around machinery, oils, coolants, and debris to help ensure smooth and reliable production. Responsibilities Check and maintain machine water and coolant levels twice per day to support consistent machine performance. Inspect and top off machine oil levels daily to help prevent unnecessary wear and downtime. Clean, drain, and change out old coolant tanks as needed to maintain proper fluid quality and system reliability. Assist maintenance mechanics with light preventative maintenance tasks, following established procedures and schedules. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around machines and coolant systems in line with 5S principles. Monitor coolant systems and machine shop equipment and report any equipment issues, leaks, or irregularities to maintenance or supervision promptly. Support basic mechanical troubleshooting activities under the direction of maintenance personnel. Follow all safety guidelines, use required personal protective equipment, and adhere to shop rules at all times. Essential Skills Ability to manage lubricants and fluids, including oil changes, coolant monitoring, and tank cleaning. Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing or machine shop setting. Experience working around machine shop equipment such as grinding machines. Strong reliability, attention to detail, and ability to follow maintenance schedules and written procedures. Comfort working in a manufacturing or production environment with noise, fluids, and dirt. Work Environment This position is based in a machine shop and manufacturing environment, working around operating machinery, coolant systems, oils, and lubricants. The work is hands-on and physically active, requiring standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday-Friday shift. You will be exposed to noise, fluids, and dirt typical of a production shop. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, and strict adherence to safety procedures and shop rules is expected at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Arlington Heights, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
