Job Title:
General Laborer Job Description This role involves working as part of a small team to assemble large containers using hand and power tools in a high-volume production environment. The position requires consistent physical activity, the ability to follow detailed instructions, and a strong focus on safety, accuracy, and teamwork. Responsibilities Assemble containers using hand tools such as hammers and screwdrivers, as well as power tools including drills. Work in teams of approximately five people to efficiently assemble each container from start to finish. Follow written and verbal directions and instructions to ensure containers are assembled correctly and meet quality standards. Use a tape measure accurately to take and verify measurements during the assembly process. Lift and move materials and components weighing 50 pounds or more on a continuous basis throughout the shift. Apply mechanical aptitude to assemble and disassemble parts as needed during the construction process. Maintain a steady production pace to meet daily and weekly output goals. Collaborate effectively with team members, maintaining a positive and cooperative attitude. Use basic math skills to measure, mark, and verify dimensions during construction and assembly. Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper use of tools and required protective footwear. Maintain reliable attendance and follow all attendance policies while on contract. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more continuously during the workday. Ability to use hand tools such as hammers and screwdrivers safely and effectively. Ability to use power tools, including drills, in a construction or assembly setting. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to assemble and disassemble components. Basic math skills for measuring and verifying dimensions. Ability to work well within a team and maintain a positive, cooperative attitude. Willingness and physical ability to work long shifts, including extended hours when needed. Steel-toe footwear suitable for an industrial environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in construction, framing, or general production environments. Assembly or construction experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting. Experience using a variety of hand tools and power tools in a production or construction role. Comfort working in a high-volume environment with large order quantities. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a large warehouse dedicated to assembling containers. You will work in a team of about five people to assemble each unit, surrounded by completed containers outside the building. The facility experiences seasonal temperature changes and can be cold in the winter and hot in the summer, so you should be comfortable working in varying conditions. The standard shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the expectation of working extended hours, such as 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., during busy periods. The environment is tool-intensive, with regular use of hand and power tools, and steel-toe boots are required as part of the dress code. Reliable attendance is critical, and adherence to attendance expectations is strictly enforced. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Harvey, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
