Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Material Handler to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating large forklifts and other heavy equipment to move, load, and unload materials within our facility. This role requires a strong understanding of safety protocols, and effective materials handling practices. This position includes a quarterly profit-sharing bonus. This position would be primarily focusing on organizing/picking inventory steel. Duties Operate 35k lb. capacity forklift, Combilift, and cranes to transport materials throughout the yard and inside facility. Move a large variety of materials including pallets, angles, plates, and beams up to 60' + in length. Load and unload shipments efficiently while ensuring piece count/material accuracy. Assist in shipping and receiving operations, ensuring all products are handled safely and correctly. Perform regular inspections of equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and maintain mechanical knowledge of machinery. Collaborate with supervisors to optimize workflow and improve operational efficiency. Execute heavy lifting tasks as required, always adhering to safety guidelines. Help in other departments on an as needed basis. Skills Proven experience in distribution and operations. Familiarity with order picking processes and materials handling techniques. Comfortble using an IPad to complete a variety of tasks Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and cranes. Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures and inventory management systems. Multitasking and problem-solving skills. Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues is a plus. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Understanding of safety regulations including OSHA compliance is essential.
