Job Description

Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description The Material Handler ensures that production and assembly teams receive the right parts at the right time by accurately receiving, storing, kitting, and delivering materials within a warehouse and manufacturing environment. This role focuses on maintaining 100% inventory accuracy, managing material movements in a SAP-based warehouse management system, and supporting a fast-paced prototype production operation. Responsibilities Perform daily cycle counts and maintain a strong commitment to achieving 100% inventory accuracy. Put away received materials in designated locations on shelving, ensuring clear organization and traceability. Build large material kits (often 20 or more parts per kit) for production orders, completing approximately 8-10 kits per day. Pick materials for production orders using paper-based pick lists rather than RF scanners, and document put-aways and picks via manual data entry into the WMS. Deliver completed kits and materials to production and assembly areas in a timely and accurate manner. Operate a sit-down forklift (and occasionally other material handling equipment such as reach trucks) to move materials as needed, typically spending around 15% of the time on a forklift, with potential variation depending on daily needs. Assist with loading and unloading trucks on the dock as needed. Essential Skills Previous experience working in a warehouse environment. Hands-on experience operating forklifts, with primary use of sit-down forklifts and occasional use of reach trucks. Experience with SAP, specifically SAP WMS or similar warehouse management systems, highly preferred. Solid computer skills, including data entry and navigation within Microsoft Office applications. Ability to accurately key-enter inventory transactions rather than relying on scanning technology. Basic math skills to support counting, reconciliation, and inventory control activities. Comfort working in a manufacturing and warehouse environment, including material handling, kitting, picking, and packing. Requirement to wear steel or composite-toed shoes as part of personal protective equipment. Why Work Here? Employees benefit from a clean, bright, and well-organized prototype facility where they work with parts and products that will not reach full production for at least a year, offering a unique and engaging environment. The workplace is temperature controlled, promoting comfort and consistency throughout the year, and the organization emphasizes maintaining little to no overtime, supporting work-life balance. Team members enjoy a culture of stability, demonstrated by strong tenure, and a setting that values accuracy, organization, and professional growth within a modern, well-structured operation. Work Environment This role is based on-site in a small, well-organized prototype manufacturing and warehouse facility. The environment is temperature controlled, bright, and clean, with a strong emphasis on organization and inventory accuracy. The primary work area is the inventory cage, where the Material Handler spends most of the time reconciling inventory and building kits on carts that are later delivered to production. The position operates on a first-shift schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with rare overtime that may start at 5:00 a.m. when needed. The shift includes two 12-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch. Work involves frequent material handling, including using a sit-down forklift (and occasionally a reach truck), operating a mobile ladder to access second-level shelving, and supporting dock activities such as loading and unloading trucks. Technologies and tools include SAP WMS, Microsoft Office, and manual, paper-based picking processes with key-entered transactions rather than RF scanning. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel or composite-toed shoes, safety glasses, and cut-resistant protection as appropriate. The role can be very busy, with frequent interruptions and multiple simultaneous requests, and it requires a high level of multitasking, responsiveness, and focus on getting materials where they need to go efficiently.
