Job Description
The Janitor & Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for making sure that the Shares Inc. facilities are clean and in working order & will assist in the warehouse operations of the facility, including forklift use and delivery driving. High School diploma or GED certificate or equivalent experience. 2. Prior housekeeping experience and ability to demonstrate reliability and exercise good judgement. 3. Prior forklift operation experience preferred. 4. Valid motor vehicle operator's license. Skill Requirements Ability to work on your own and ensure that facility is clean. Ability to communicate with supervisor when cleaning supplies are low and need ordered. Ability to operate a forklift. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to follow a cleaning schedule. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Reliability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform a variety of specific daily and weekly janitorial tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations. Cleaning task list is provided. Maintain a safe work environment by properly notifying employees and visitors of cautionary situations such as wet floors following mopping. Notify supervisor immediately of any building, equipment, water, electrical, plumbing, chemical or safety issues. Maintain appropriate cleaning materials and notify appropriate staff to order materials as necessary. Follow and maintain proper usage and handling of all cleaning materials and equipment as indicated on the Material Safety Data Sheets located in each building. Clean Windows. Operate a forklift using all safety precautions. Assist in the operation of Shares, Inc. warehouse. Occasionally operate company van using all safety precautions. Practice and promote all policies and procedures as outlined in the Shares, Inc. Safety Manual, Shares, Inc. Policy Manual and Shares, Inc. Employee Handbook while maintaining and displaying a professional attitude and standard. Participate in in-service activities as requested or approved by supervisor. Assist with other duties as assigned by Director of Operations. Job Complexity Work requires an ability to communicate clearly and effectively and to exercise judgement without a need for close supervision. Environment and Conditions The janitor & warehouse assistant will spend most of his/her on their feet walking throughout the building while cleaning and collecting trash. Must also assist in the warehouse, at times operating a forklift. Must be able to be standing and walking around building for 90% of shift. Will have to be able to lift 30 pounds routinely. Much of the interaction will be with Director of Operations but will interact with all personal within the building. Cleaning equipment to be used includes: mop, brooms, cleaning supplies, floor polisher, etc. Operation of a forklift and driving a motor vehicle to make local deliveries for Shares, Inc.
