Position Summary The Warehouse & Material Handler is responsible for receiving, inspecting, organizing, labeling, and safely handling natural stone and engineered stone slabs throughout the warehouse. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate inventory, protecting valuable stone materials, keeping the warehouse safe and organized, and ensuring the fabrication team has the correct material available when needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, physically capable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse and stone fabrication environment. Essential Responsibilities Receiving & Inspecting Stone Receive natural stone, quartz, and other slab materials from truck deliveries. Safely unload and handle stone slabs using appropriate equipment and procedures. Inspect each slab upon delivery for: Cracks Chips Scratches Blemishes Breakage Color or surface inconsistencies Other visible damage or concerns Photograph slabs as required for documentation and inventory records. Clearly document damaged or questionable material. Communicate damaged or unacceptable material to the office promptly. Assist with identifying material that needs to be returned to the supplier. Inventory & Warehouse Organization Identify the appropriate warehouse location for each slab. Properly label and tag each slab for inventory and identification. Ensure physical inventory matches company records. Maintain organized slab locations so materials can be easily found and accessed. Assist the office and project coordinators in locating specific slabs when needed. Monitor warehouse organization and report inventory or material discrepancies. Material Handling Safely operate a forklift/fork truck and other material-handling equipment. Move slabs throughout the warehouse as needed. Position material in designated storage locations. Pull and stage slabs for upcoming fabrication jobs. Assist the fabrication team with loading and positioning material for saw cutting. Help load and unload trucks and deliveries. Follow all company safety procedures when handling stone and operating equipment. Warehouse Maintenance & Safety Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of unnecessary hazards. Maintain clear aisles and access to equipment and materials. Assist with general warehouse cleanup and housekeeping. Properly store tools, equipment, and material-handling supplies. Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or maintenance concerns to management. Follow all required safety procedures, including proper lifting and material-handling practices. Communication & Teamwork Communicate clearly with the office regarding damaged, defective, or incorrect materials. Notify the appropriate team members when material needs to be returned or replaced. Work closely with fabricators, project coordinators, drivers, and management. Assist other warehouse team members as needed. Be proactive in identifying problems before they affect fabrication or installation schedules. Maintain a positive, professional, team-oriented attitude. Qualifications & Requirements Previous warehouse, fabrication, construction, stone, or material-handling experience preferred. Forklift/fork truck experience required or willingness and ability to become certified. Ability to safely handle and move heavy materials. Strong attention to detail, particularly when inspecting and identifying stone defects. Ability to recognize and communicate damage or quality concerns. Strong organizational skills. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Good communication skills. Ability to work in a physically demanding warehouse environment. Must be comfortable working around heavy equipment, forklifts, saws, and stone fabrication machinery. Commitment to workplace safety and proper material-handling procedures. Physical Requirements This position requires frequent: Standing and walking throughout the workday. Bending, reaching, and climbing as necessary. Lifting and moving materials and equipment. Working around large, heavy stone slabs. Operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment. Working indoors in a warehouse/fabrication environment with exposure to dust, noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
