The Shipping Lead Loader directs, assists, and ensures products are safely loaded for the customer. This role is responsible for the layout, quality, efficiency, and engagement of a shipping team. This role ensures the shipment is complete through the use of scanners, tablets, and computer programs.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensures all safety guidance is followed for the team they oversee. Responsible for quality of products being loaded. Properly identifies, counts, and records all materials as loaded. Interprets and directs trailer loading as per the load layout configuration. Properly loads, packs, and secures all materials in trailers to ensure safety and prevent damage in transit. Must be able to handle steel sections overhead. Assumes other duties as assigned by leadership.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Standing/Walking:
required standing throughout the entire shift. Short distance walking of 5-15 feet on a periodic basis during the shift, depending upon the position assigned.
Lifting/ Carrying:
Required lifting and stacking of banded door panels to various levels, including overhead continuously. Maximum required individual lifting limit is forty-five pounds (45lbs). Must be able to safely work with another team member to carry or lift door panels in excess of forty-five pounds (45lbs). Items beyond the forty-five pounds (45lbs) weight require two persons. Frequency of lifting and carrying is considered continuous and is job task dependent.
Pushing and Pulling:
Pushing of carts is frequently required. Occasionally pulling and steering of a cart is required at force of forty-five pounds (45lbs). Must be able to safely work with another team member to push or pull carts forty-five pounds (45lbs). Items beyond the forty-five pounds (45lbs) weight require two persons.
Manuel dexterity:
Grip small objects to cut rubber and maneuver hands/wrists in repetitive motion consistently. Ability to work in varying conditions, including noisy, high-temperature environments, and outdoors. Reporting and clerical duties on a computer and/or tablet.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
(EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS): 1 to 2 years of leadership experience. 1 to 2 years shipping experience ensuring proper loading, packing, and securing of materials on trailers to prevent damage in transit. Ability to read blueprints and layouts to ensure proper loading, packing and securing of materials on trailers to prevent damage in transit. Positively motivates, directs, and assists the Team as they load each trailer. Proficient with various computer applications, scanners, and tablets.
