Duration:
6 months Position Summary The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and documentation of materials within a warehouse environment. This role includes loading and unloading materials, preparing outgoing shipments, maintaining accurate inventory records, and operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and the flexibility to support on-call operations. Work may occur indoors and outdoors, including in varying weather conditions. Responsibilities Load, unload, move, and store materials safely within the warehouse. Pick, pack, and prepare inventory for shipment, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against documentation such as manifests or orders. Maintain accurate shipping and inventory records, report discrepancies. Select proper shipping methods based on material type and delivery needs. Communicate with internal staff to resolve issues including damages, shortages, or non-conforming materials. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other warehouse equipment. Route and deliver materials to internal departments as required. Follow all warehouse safety procedures and maintain a clean workspace. Support additional warehouse tasks as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience. Ability to participate in an on-call rotation (nights, weekends, holidays). Strong attention to detail, organization, and multi-tasking ability. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer proficiency for inventory and internal systems. Ability to lift and move heavy materials; able to stand, walk, and bend for long periods. Ability to work in various weather conditions and at heights or near water. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Experience with industrial or energy-related warehouse operations Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Safe and efficient operation of warehouse equipment. Basic reading and writing skills for documentation. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Ability to understand and follow safety, operational, and organizational guidelines. Physical Requirements This role is classified as Medium Work and requires the ability to: Lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 lbs as needed. Perform physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, twisting, balancing, and climbing stairs or ladders for extended periods. Work in confined spaces and occasionally crawl, kneel, or lie on one's back or stomach to complete tasks. Use repetitive arm and hand movements, including overhead work. Operate warehouse equipment and motor vehicles safely. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for body, skin, vision, and hearing protection throughout the workday. Distinguish color differences when required for tasks. Work at heights and near water when necessary.
