We have a fantastic opportunity where your work will directly impact and influence the company's service to its customers. Role Overview As a Retail Sales & Yard Associate, you are the face of our scrap yard. You will bridge the gap between our retail customers and our processing operations. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a fast-paced, physically demanding, hands-on environment where no two days are the same. You will handle everything from greeting customers at the scale to identifying metal types, sorting and processing materials, and operating equipment ranging from forklifts to metal shears to excavators.
Key Responsibilities Customer Interaction:
Greet retail customers and professional contractors, providing professional assistance to ensure a positive experience.
Material Identification:
Inspect and grade incoming scrap (ferrous and non-ferrous) based on type, quality, and current market value.
Transaction Management:
Weigh materials and guide customer through purchasing process.
Lot Support:
Assist customers in safely unloading materials from vehicles and directing traffic within the lot.
Inventory & Maintenance:
Maintain organized material bins and ensure the warehouse remains clean and compliant with safety standards. Physical Requirements •
Environment:
Ability to work outdoors 100% of the time in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain). •
Stamina:
Must be able to stand and walk on uneven ground for up to 8 hours per day. •
Strength:
Regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. •
Safety:
Willingness to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and high-visibility gear. Qualifications •
Experience:
1+ years of experience in customer service, or a general labor environment (scrap or construction industry preferred). •
Skills:
Strong basic math skills for weighing and pricing, and a "can-do" attitude toward problem-solving. •
Equipment:
Forklift certification is a plus, or a willingness to be trained on heavy machinery • Company will sponsor forklift and hoisting license certification for the right candidate
Pay:
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
