4-Month Contract (Temp-to-Perm Opportunity) Position Summary The Production Planner/Scheduler is responsible for planning, monitoring, and coordinating job flow across manufacturing and support departments to ensure accurate and on-time completion of customer orders. This role works closely with the Materials Planning Supervisor and Operations Managers to align production schedules, material availability, and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Review customer order requirements against material and tooling availability to generate production work orders Identify material needs, submit Requests for Quote (RFQs), and ensure purchase orders are processed Generate and release engineered product work orders to production Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer delivery timelines Reserve raw materials for future production needs Review, approve, and process order amendments and expedite requests Communicate priorities and production updates to Production and Customer Service teams Ensure all job-related costs (labor, materials, outside services) are accurately applied before closing work orders Monitor and resolve schedule exception reports daily Coordinate outside services with Materials Planning and MRO teams to ensure timely delivery Perform daily transactions related to work orders Recommend process improvements to enhance scheduling efficiency and productivity Serve as backup for other Schedulers and the Materials Planning Supervisor Provide regular updates on job status, risks, and issues to leadership Ensure same-day shipment of stock products when required Maintain consistent communication across departments to support a team-oriented environment Monitor production progress daily to ensure schedules are being met Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; additional college coursework, vocational training, or business school preferred 2-3 years of production planning/scheduling experience, preferably in a machining or job shop environment Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP/MRP system experience preferred Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and efficiency Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively across teams Physical Requirements & Work Environment Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach, and use hands for handling or operating equipment Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception Work environment includes both office and machine shop settings As part of our promise to talent, Kelly supports those who work with us through a variety of benefits, perks, and work-related resources.
